2006 Seattle Marathon
 Dr. Masahiro Takakura
In November the WSCA sports council sent a team of chiropractors to the Seattle Marathon to assist in treating the nearly 14,000 runners. In addition to chiropractic care, the runners also had massage therapy, acupuncture, and medical care available to them. Besides the half and full marathon run there was also a half and full marathon walk, as well as a kid’s marathon.
Dr. Annie Armstrong doing A.R.T. to a Runner
Our team of 4 chiropractors and 4 students from Bastyr's ND program, who assisted the doctors, treated more than 60 patients in the recovery area for a variety of conditions including ankle and knee sprains, hip and back pain, and Iliotibial band injuries. At the finish area we helped the medical staff triage injured runners as they came across the finish line and helped handle the large number of runners who were experiencing hypothermia in the unexpectedly cold weather.

I would like to thank the doctors involved; Drs. Annie Armstrong, Masahiro Takakura, and Peter Carr. I would also like to thank the students from Bastyr who took time out of their schedules to participate. Without the effort of the doctors and students who we could not have such a successful event.
