How do you know if you need a new chiropractic table or other equipment? Ask yourself this: "Will my patients be better served? How could they benefit?" A Hy-Lo table may help geriatric patients or those with acute conditions get on or off the table. If manual adjustments are tough on some patients, sometimes a mechanical drop can help. Often a patient with a "hot" lower lumbar can benefit from flexion. Maybe a more contoured, softer or even firmer foam could be more comfortable. What about you? Are you tired of bending over? Are your wrists and shoulders sore from performing manual adjustments? Would a table that elevated to fit you help? Would drops relieve some of the stress on your body? Are manual drops enough, or would stepping on a foot switch to cock the drops, keeping your hands free to maintain contact with your patient be better? How can you shop for just the right table for you? You might think of scouring catalogues, or visiting www.everything.com, but although these are good options when you're looking for face paper or cold packs, purchasing more sophisticated equipment requires hands on technical support and maintenance. You will find this exclusively from your local equipment dealer. When at all possible, take the time to go to a showroom and demo a representation of the equipment you're considering. Ask questions. Everyone has unique requirements. Discuss yours with the dealer. Take advantage of the dealer's years of experience to help you make the right decision. Get a written parts and labor warranty that only an authorized manufacturer's representative can provide, and have your equipment maintained to avoid untimely problems. Can you afford the equipment? The time has never been better. You have the leverage to shop for some great low interest loans and leasing options. With new federal tax credits in place for elevation and hy-lo tables, you and your patients will both benefit! -Cossman Rehab of
