February 2006: WSCA mourns the
loss of two influential members of the chiropractic community
Two unrelated events have taken the lives
of two well respected members of the chiropractic community.
WSCA mourns the untimely loss of these two friends and supporters
of chiropractic.
Dr. David Jones of Spokane, WA was a past
member of the Chiropractic Quality Assurance Commission. He
was recently killed while vacationing in Florida.
Beth Gibson, wife of long time WSCA member
Dr. Darryl Gibson of Seattle, recently passed from a lung
disease. Beth was a true friend of chiropractic, and worked
very closely with the WSCA.
Beth Gibson’s memorial service was
held Saturday, February 18 at 9 am in Seattle at St. Anne’s
Catholic Church.
David's funeral
was held Friday, February 24, at 2 pm in Spokane at Opportunity
Presbyterian Church. Dr. Terry Lawson gave the Eulogy.
David and Beth will be greatly missed.

2006: WSCA Board Appoints COCSA Rep to chair CCGPP (Council
on Chiropractic Guidelines and Practice Parameters) Committee
At the 2/11/06 board meeting, the WSCA Board
of Directors appointed Dr. Bill Pratt, COCSA Representative,
as chair of the committee to review the chapters of the CCGPP
Best Practice documents. Each chapter written will be sent
to state associations for review. Dr. Pratt is seeking volunteers
to participate on the WSCA's review of this document. Please
contact the WSCA at 206-878-6055 if interested. CCGPP is also
requesting feedback from individual chiropractors, patients
and other stakeholders. Each chapter will have approximately
45-60 days for review. Your input is valuable! Visit the

2005: Insurance Commissioner and Secretary of Department of
Health Deny Rule Making Petitions
September of this year the WSCA filed 8
rule-making petitions with the Office of the Insurance Commissioner
(OIC), and we cross-filed three of them with the Department
of Health (DOH). Both state agencies had 60 days to respond
to our petitions and either accept, modify or deny. In early

2005: Washington State Chiropractors Petition the Insurance
Commissioner for Relief
SeaTac, Wash., Sept. 12 — Citing "the
growing threat to our patients and our profession," the Washington
State Chiropractic Association (WSCA) announced today that
it has petitioned Washington State Insurance Commissioner
Mike Kreidler to stop some insurance companies from discriminating
against the chiropractic profession. Read

8/1/05 Premera Fee Schedule Change Notice to Chiropractors
On Monday, August 1, 2005, the WSCA learned through its members that Premera Blue Cross has decreased the payment for chiropractic services. WSCA has contacted Premera Blue Cross to voice concern about two things. First, the lack of notice to WSCA regarding this change in a timely manner; and second, lack of requested input from WSCA in an effort to avoid having to decrease the fee schedule. Read more >>
