Every
other year the entire House of Representatives, and half of
the State Senators, run for election to represent their district
in the state legislature. This year the Washington Chiropractic
Trust has budgeted a total of $100,000 to raise, and donate,
to candidates who understand chiropractic and who work hard
to help elect, or re-elect, those candidates.
Running campaigns is very expensive
and candidates need our help. The average cost for one district
mailing is approximately $5,000, depending on the population
of a district. Campaign staff needs to be paid a salary and
brochures need to be created to help a candidate get their
message out to their constituents. Doorbelling a district
is the single most important task for a legislative candidate
and additional brochures need to be printed for delivering
to constituents while doorbelling.
We have to work hard to get
the chiropractic message out to candidates due to their technicality.
We have to make personal friends with candidates and make
sure that we get to know them well so they understand the
issues of chiropractic as well as the insurance and anti-discrimination
challenges that you face on a daily basis. Bias against the
chiropractic profession is alive, and well, I am sad to say,
so our political work is definitely cut out for us. You can
begin now by supporting these incumbent candidates >>
