Gearing Up for 2006

The past legislative session was successful however, the challenges we face continue. The WSCA Board of Directors is already considering the agenda for the 2006 session so that we can meet with legislators and prepare them.

Some issues that we are discussing for 2006 include network adequacy and payment equality laws. These are two major issues for our members that the Board of Directors has been trying to deal with for quite some time. Since these policy issues are very technical in nature it takes a great deal of time to prepare legislators and our legislative language. The summer and fall is the time that we work with other associations as well to see what kind of support or opposition we have to issues that we decide to run that affect every licensed provider category.

Part of the process that we are in now is also supporting political campaigns so that they can build their budget for the elections in 2006. So far we have begun distributing Trust contributions to those legislators who are completely in support of our legislative agenda, and believe in a patient's right to choose your services when they have a covered health condition. If you haven't made your monthly donation to the PAC, please take the time to do that today. It is very expensive to run a political campaign and your dollars can help our political friends get an early start. This includes Rep.
