Quality Assurance Corner

The Chiropractic Quality Assurance Commission's (commission) primary goal is to protect the public. In addition, it sets standards in rule, decides complaints against practitioners, and educates the profession. Providers sometimes violate state laws or rules because they do not understand them.

The commission has made presentations at state conventions and district meetings to familiarize practitioners with the boundaries of their profession. Updates on the complaint process have become essential due to changes in public perception and industry standards. Issues of sexual boundaries, documentation of care, and fee structure often prompt questions. Understanding the commission’s responsibilities can help a practitioner realize the consequence of violating a state law or rule. The commission plans to regularly submit articles to Plexus for educational purposes.

The commission encourages you to read the laws and rules. These are available online at the Department of Health's web-site, www.doh.wa.gov.

To access the commission's website, please click on the link titled QAC website at the top of this page.

If you need assistance with accessing the website or questions about the laws and rules, simply contact Leann Yount, program manager to the Chiropractic Quality Assurance Commission at leann.yount@doh.wa.gov or Megan Maxey, program representative at megan.maxey@doh.wa.gov.
