The Washington Chiropractic Trust (WCT) serves as the Political Action Committee (PAC) for the chiropractic profession in Washington State. The Trust representatives are set up by Congressional District, like the WSCA Board of Directors (BOD), and works directly with the association lobbyist and the WSCA BOD.
The WCT operates on a grassroots basis of active members from all parts of the state. These chiropractors are active in working with legislators and other chiropractic doctors to protect the chiropractic profession on all legislative and political issues affecting the profession. It advocates for chiropractic doctors and patients' rights to chiropractic care as a distinct method of primary health care, seeks parity for chiropractic in third party payer systems, and resists all efforts to discriminate against chiropractic as an equal form of primary health care.
The WCT has become one of the most highly funded PACs in Washington State, selectively distributing its funds to candidates and ballot measures that demonstrate an understanding of, sensitivity to and support for chiropractic issues, initiatives and legislation - rather than those who support the status quo.
A major issue of the WCT is that consumers have the freedom to choose their health care provider(s), and that chiropractic care is given equal consideration with other health care providers in decision-making.
The profession now stands united and ready to be a part of the collective efforts needed to address the health care issues of the new millennium.
